Our Story...

Welcome to the Waterfront Restaurant

The Waterfront Restaurant

The Waterfront Restaurant is locally owned and operated by island natives Susan and Scot Flowers. The Flowers’ name upholds four generations in the Edisto seafood industry. Growing up Scot could be found running the family’s fresh seafood shop or on the back of his dad’s shrimp boat, who was a shrimper for 44 years. From the shrimp boat to his mother Doris Flowers’ kitchen, Scot developed a different approach to seafood.

In 2001, Scot opened the Waterfront Restaurant to share his family’s history of providing the island with great food. The original location of The Waterfront overlooked Big Bay Creek, hence the name. In 2007, the restaurant moved off the water to Jungle Road to better accommodate the customers, but they decided to keep the name. Scot and Susan figured they were still close enough to the water with a tidal creek on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other.

The Waterfront provides a casual and family-friendly atmosphere while offering delicious, fresh seafood. Local shrimp and oysters harvested by Scot’s family grace the menu each night. The menu also features salads, pasta, sandwiches, steaks and plenty of other lowcountry seafood. The menu and specials are always changing due to seasonal availability in their efforts to provide the freshest seafood and produce. Seasonal vegetables are provided by local King’s Farm, owned by Susan’s parents.

It is the utmost importance that The Waterfront strives to provide the highest level of customer service and quality of food. For this reason you can always find Scot in the kitchen cooking or out talking with the customers. Whether you are a visitor or a local The Waterfront wants to make your visit to Edisto better. Many say they come in as a stranger and leave a friend, hence our motto “Fine dining ~ Fond Friendships.”
